Mental Illness Awareness Show 2016
Welcome one and all to the Mental Illness Awareness Show 2016.
As some of you know, I've been struggling with major depressive disorder for about a year now. It is a struggle, but I find relief and escape through my art, my virtual horses, and the friends I have made through deviantART. I know that I am not the only one for whom this is true.
Unfortunately, a huge stigma still exists regarding all types of mental illnesses and disorders. The objective of this show is to show fellow artists and people that they are not alone, that their disorder is nothing to be ashamed of, and that there are people who love and care about them. It is also to raise awareness of mental disorders including, but certainly not limited to, the following:
Depression Anxiety Bipolar Disorder Anorexia and Bulimia Schizoaffective Disorder Schizophrenia ADD and ADHD Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Post Traumatic Stress DisorderObviously, this list is not conclusive, and only scratches the surface of mental disorders. The MIAS concludes in May, seeing as May is Mental Health Awareness Month. This year, the event is being held by Windswept-Acres

Rules and Guidelines
The arenas of Windswept have been dressed up in green specifically for this event! The lime green ribbon is the general ribbon of mental illness and disorders. That means your horse and rider should be wearing green as well, even if it isn't in the form of ribbons. All horses and riders must be wearing the correct equipment for their class. Images must be originally created for this event, and they must be full-body (exceptions counted for perspective only), fully colored, with a full background. This is an effort-based show. No linearts or commissioned art. Tracing or referencing photographs is allowed with proper credit. "Google" is not a stock image, link directly to the image you use please! This is an effort-based show. I'm not going to tell you it must be this, must be that, but your score is based on effort against your own gallery. All breeds, horses, and types are welcome! Magical powers may not be used to gain an advantage. You can enter as many horses as you like, but you cannot enter the same horse in the same class twice. Windswept Acres is located is Texas, USA. The weather is whatever you want it to be! No whining, no sore losers, no throwing muffin tins!

Dressage
A basic freestyle dressage course. Show off your best moves to the music of your choice!
Held in the Dressage Arena. Single horses or pax de deux only. No quadrilles.Cross Country
An outdoor course suitable for all skill levels.
All jumps are numbered and flagged! The red flag is on the right, the white flag is on the left.Show Jumping
An indoor course that will be set for any skill level.
Choose any show jump you wish from the course. Poles can be raised and lowered to your horse's level.Halter
Time to put your horse's best points on display!
Held in the Covered Arena. A halter or bridle is all that is required for the horse, but don't forget the green.Liberty
Let your horse pick their moves to the music of your choice!
Held in the Covered Arena. No tack is required for the horse, but don't forget the green.Driving/Harness
Your harness horses can really shine! Show off that teamwork.
A harness is required for a single horse or team of two, but they can be pulling a cart or ground driving.Western Variety
Choose your discipline! Anything western-based is accepted in this class.
Held in the large Outdoor Arena. Please state which specific discipline (barrel racing, western pleasure, calf roping, etc) you are doing on your entry.Flat Racing
An all-out sprint along the lake spells competitive fun for horse and rider.

Windswept's 2023 Opening Bash
Welcome one and all! I am very excited to bring to you the first show that Windswept Acres has hosted in years. We have done some revamping and cannot wait to have you all on our grounds to celebrate the opening of 2023. The theme of this show is enjoyment and new beginnings. It is overall a lighthearted event featuring both traditional Western and English classes as well as some fun classes! This show is intended to be upbeat, happy, and feel like a party. The event is set the weekend of January 6-8 of 2023; full of hope, revival, and starry-eyed dreams. We strongly encourage you, your horses, and your riders to step out of your comfort zone just a little and play. We love to see your dressage horses in a western saddle, your rodeo cowboys taking on a show jumping course, and the little kids parading their ponies in the ring. Good morning y'all. Or afternoon. Or night. I have to admit this isn't an easy journal to write. If you haven't noticed, I've been very in and out of dA the past couple years. It hasn't been easy. I work two jobs. I've been in school. I've dealt with tablet and software issues. I've had wrist pain that makes it hard to draw sometimes (difficult digitally, impossible traditionally). But one of the biggest factors is that sometimes I just don't feel like it. I think one of the biggest issues is that we don't realize how much of HARPG is for someone else. I try to draw pretty art so people will like it. I try to keep up with stories so people aren't waiting. Then there's breedings and adoptables and lineart and resources and references groups and commissions and shows. Oh my god, shows. I swear I won't ever host one again because as fun as they are to come up with, I can't see them through. My point is that there are so many expectations that come with HARPG, and with them come
